Caractères presents five solos inspired by Les Caractères de la Danse, originally created by five choreographers specializing in Baroque dance, here brought together in a collaborative work:

  • Francine Lancelot – Re-creation of 1986 based on Laban notation of 2011 by BĂ©atrice Aubert, re-staged by Estelle Corbière and Bruno Benne
  • Marie-Geneviève MassĂ© – Original creation
  • BĂ©atrice Massin – Original creation
  • Hubert Hazebroucq – Original creation
  • Bruno Benne – Original creation

This collaboration aims to showcase the diversity of creative possibilities that have emerged from the rediscovery of Baroque codification since the 1970s. The musical work, Les Caractères de la Danse by Rebel (1715), is arranged in five different orchestrations, including a new creation by Youri Bessières, serving as a shared framework and guiding thread for each solo.

With Figures Non Obligées, Beaux-Champs presents a 30- or 60-minute performance combining Baroque dance and music.

Freely inspired by the repertoire of dances transcribed in Feuillet notation, the piece reveals the music and makes the dance of the period audible in a modern, rhythmic, and dynamic universe.
