Between perfectly balanced, multi-directional symmetries reminiscent of playful Baroque fountains, synchronized with G.F. Handel’s iconic Water Music, and the exhilarating flows of a joint dance-music creation by Bruno Benne and Youri Bessières, Rapides reflects the waters in dancing, piercing, and dazzling jets.

press review
"With the title of this piece, one is immediately swept into a torrent of gestures, a cascade of sensations, and a rush of exhilaration. Riding this seemingly inexhaustible momentum, Baroque dance specialist Bruno Benne, who has led the Beaux-Champs Company since 2013, stages two tableaux set to Handel’s Water Music, as well as original musical compositions by Youri Bessières. Passionate about transmitting this multifaceted Baroque style, the choreographer assembled a talented ensemble of ten young performers to bring out the shimmering facets of a kaleidoscopic choreography."

Télérama
"The calm river turns turbulent, and the dancers propel the waves, the momentum, the continuity, the whirlpool. Beneath the musical loops of Youri Bessières, Bruno Benne captures the essence of this dance to create a new Baroque wave, bringing forth a generous intention of sharing space in service of the music. Or, conversely, allowing contemporary dance, within a formed ensemble, to embody the music’s meaning, develop its musical ear, and convey a raw, contagious joy!"

Le billet
"Baroque at breakneck speed… Rapides captivates as a hybrid work situated between contemporary repertoire and Baroque dance. Bruno Benne is not only one of the rare choreographers to draw inspiration from this style, but he also reinvents its seemingly antiquated elements through minimalist staging and performance. Handel’s music is reinterpreted by composer Youri Bessières."
