For 9 Dancers – 30 minutes

Concept and Choreography: Bruno Benne
Music: Concerts en Sextuor by Jean-Philippe Rameau, complemented by new compositions from Youri Bessières

Musical Momentum
On stage, nine dancers take center stage in a choreographic score created in dialogue with the musical architecture of Jean-Philippe Rameau. Playing with surges and spatial propulsion, the dance becomes a new musical voice, with bodies carrying a choral part rich in accents and breathing.

From Structure to Detail
Drawing on the most basic elements of dance and music, such as walking and pulse, the vocabulary of Baroque dance serves the creation of more complex compositions, built from spirals, volumes, and relational figures.

The piece Ornements is frequently shared through educational initiatives. In 2024, it was offered to the amateur group Terrain Vague II within the framework of the Danse en Amateur·ices et RĂ©pertoire program at the CND, as well as at the International Summer School of Early Music in Valtice, Czech Republic.

press review

"Between surges and thrusts, the staggered repetition captivates the eye. The piece constantly opens up new perspectives. On the ground, the bodies brace themselves—Ornements abandons the air to anchor in a more contemporary gravity. It presents a singular stage universe, continually renewed."

press review

"The magic emerges all the more from the artistic performances, the instrumentalists, and the vocal soloists—but it is the six dancers, wearing carnival masks, from Beaux-Champs Dance Company and their director Bruno Benne who almost steal the show in their appearances, bringing the elegant dramatic energy of choreography spanning three centuries of classical movement (from the 1660s to the 1960s)."
